It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Mr. Nicholas “Nick” Leone, our beloved 8th grade history teacher at Stewart Middle School.
Mr. Leone dedicated 22 remarkable years to teaching at Stewart, beginning his career with us as a reading teacher before moving into his true passion—history. His commitment to excellence, his calm strength, and the care he showed for every student made an enduring impact on our school community.
Before becoming an educator, Mr. Leone lived through one of our nation’s most difficult moments. As a survivor of the September 11, 2001 attack in New York City, he demonstrated extraordinary courage. In the midst of chaos, he carried a woman across the Brooklyn Bridge to safety—an act of heroism that reflected the character he brought with him every day into our classrooms and hallways.
Nick Leone was more than a teacher; he was a mentor, a colleague, and a friend. His presence brought warmth, wisdom, and a sense of purpose to Stewart Middle School. He was deeply loved by students, staff, and families, and his legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.

We are so excited our Student Astronaut Challenge competition team has made it to finals. We will compete between 2:30-4:30
Congratulations to the Stewart Student Astronaut Challenge competition team for making it to the Semifinals of the Shuttle Launch simulation portion of the competition. Stewart will be competing in the competition at 11:00 am on 2/4/2026. Good luck team.

Youth ages 17 and under will receive free admission to the fair until 5 p.m. with an admission-paying parent or guardian 21 or older.
