Kevin Kastner, Principal


I am Kevin Kastner, the proud principal of our vibrant school community, where every child matters and our motto is Work hard, Be nice. At West Tampa Elementary, we prioritize meeting our students' emotional, social, and academic needs, ensuring a well-rounded education that fosters growth in all areas.

We are thrilled to announce that starting in the 2025-2026 school year, we will officially become a Community School. This exciting development will allow us to deepen our commitment to serving our students and families by providing additional resources and support within our community.

The progress we have achieved together is a testament to our exceptional educators and the strong relationships we've built within our community. Our commitment to Social and Emotional Learning remains unwavering. We are dedicated to providing personalized student support and implementing differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of our learners as we aim for success in our daily lives.

Strings Group

The Strings Group offers young musicians the opportunity to learn and perform together in a fun, supportive environment. The club performs at school and community events, showcasing their progress and talent throughout the year.

Thurgood Marshall History Club

The Thurgood Marshall History Club inspires young students to explore African American history and the legacy of Justice Thurgood Marshall. The club encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and community service while promoting leadership at an age-appropriate level.
step team

Step Team

The Step Team introduces students to the high-energy art of stepping, a rhythmic form of dance that uses claps, stomps, and chants to create powerful performances. Team members build confidence, discipline, and teamwork while expressing themselves through movement and sound. The step team will perform at school and community events, promoting school spirit and unity.

HOST After School Program

HOST is a supervised enrichment program available to HCPS elementary students. This after-school program is available on school grounds.

The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe, supportive, and fun after-school program for students. Transportation is provided directly from school.
