Welcome to a new school year! As proud Dragons, we celebrate the whole child, honoring each student’s identity, culture, and unique talents. This is my 13th year at Roland Park, and it continues to be a joy to lead a community so deeply rooted in care, curiosity, and connection. Through inquiry-based learning with real-world application, we empower internationally minded students to think critically and embrace who they are. Together, we’ll continue building a school where every child feels seen, valued, and inspired.
Let’s make this a remarkable year, Dragons! Building a Culture of Care- Mrs. von Ancken
On Friday, August 8th, we welcomed all of our new and returning Dragons for our Meet the Teacher Event. It was wonderful seeing everyone on campus. The classrooms all look amazing and are student ready. It was great to hear the hallways filled with excited chatter and laughter! Our RP Dragons are ready for an amazing year!
On Saturday, August 9th, faculty, staff, and so many families gathered together to make our campus student-ready. There was an incredible turnout to help with pulling weeds, laying mulch, and prepping the Discovery Garden for a new year. It was great to see returning and new families coming together, forming friendships, and creating memories. Our school looks incredible thanks to all of their hard work!
This past July, 14 teachers and staff members went on an epic adventure to Ecuador. They visited an indigenous village where they participated in service opportunities, visited the equator, shopped in local markets, and made incredible memories. They were true IB life-long learners as they were open-minded to a new culture, were risk-takers as they zip-lined over a waterfall, and reflective as they thought about how these new experiences would change them.
In June, a group of our 8th-grade students set off on an adventure of a lifetime to Costa Rica for a week! These adventurous travelers created so many amazing adventures! They ziplined at Arenal Volcano, visited the Doka Coffee Plantation, shopped in local markets, visited local hot springs, and kayaked across a lake. They also had the opportunity to do community service at an animal rescue and in a small community focused on taking care of the environment. These students grew as individuals and made memories to last a lifetime!
