COZY UP AND GRAB A BOOK 📚❄️ We are excited to announce the Superintendent's Winter Break Reading Challenge! Students in PreK-12 are encouraged to dive into their favorite stories this upcoming break and log every minute they read.
From December 19 through January 5, students can record their reading in Beanstack (Visit hub.hcps.net and click on the Beanstack icon to get started). The schools with the highest participation will earn a Reader Leader trophy and $500 toward library books! Winners will be announced during Celebrate Literacy Week, January 26 through 30.

Congratulations to our Girls on the Run students for completing their 5k! Our girls worked together this semester learning how to be strong, kind, and train for a 5k. The girls also completed a community service project, donating items they collected for the Raining Cats and Dogs Animal Rescue. The girls thank you for your generous donations. They were able to deliver the supplies to the animal rescue after their race on Saturday.

Our Girls on the Run club has chosen the Raining Cats and Dogs animal shelter as their community service project. They will be collecting towels, blankets, dry cat food, canned dog food, dog treats and cat and dog toys during the car line tomorrow morning, Friday, December 5th. Bring your items for donation tomorrow and the girls will deliver their basket of supplies this weekend. Thank you for your support!

On Friday our 2nd grade students participated in an Ellis Island simulation as part of their unit of inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time. Students packed up their backpacks and travelled to Ellis Island. They went through a baggage station, medical and registry interviews. After the experience students and teachers reflected on what it might have felt like to actually go through Ellis Island after travelling on a ship.

🎈 Lincoln Elementary Magnet School held its Kindergarten Balloon Showcase and Parade, where 5th grade students helped kindergarteners design and decorate balloons inspired by aThanksgiving Day Parade. They showed off their creations to families and then paraded through the school to celebrate this fun tradition. 🎈🎈

Thank you to everyone who came a presented at our Great American Teach-in event. Our students were able to hear from many different people, in many different professions. We had law enforcement officers, people who work with animals, farmers, TECO, medical professional, and so many more. This is one of the best days of the year and our students and teachers are grateful for everyone who took the time to share with them this year!

Thank you to everyone who supported our Fall Food Drive and to our Service is Fun club. Lincoln was able to donate 1,047 pounds of food to the United Food Bank of Plant City. The Service is Fun club was able to deliver the food to the food bank on Tuesday and learn more about how the food bank works and how they are able to help the community. It is an honor to work with the United Food Bank! We are grateful for all they do for our community.

We were so excited to host Robyn Baker the Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of Plant City during the CEO in schools' day, earlier this month. Robyn, a former Lion, spent the day touring the school and teaching our 3rd and 4th graders about planning and zoning. The students enjoyed her presentation and loved learning about the history of Plant City. Thank you for joining us Mrs. Baker!
