Tampa, Fl. (September 28, 2026) – Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is proud to announce that 24 schools have been recognized by the Florida Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Project as 2025-26 Florida PBIS Model Schools. The statewide recognition highlights schools that have successfully implemented evidence-based practices that create positive and supportive learning environments for students.
The Florida PBIS Model School designation recognizes schools that have demonstrated a commitment to improving student outcomes through proactive behavioral supports, positive school climates, and student-centered practices.
This year, four Hillsborough County Public Schools earned the prestigious gold designation; 11 schools received silver recognition, and nine schools were honored with bronze status.
"Creating safe and supportive learning environments is essential to student success," said Superintendent Van Ayres. "These schools have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering positive relationships, encouraging appropriate behaviors and ensuring every student feels connected and supported. I am incredibly proud of our educators, support staff, students, and families who make this achievement possible."
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is a multi-tiered framework that helps schools improve academic, social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes for all students. Through PBIS, schools establish clear expectations, recognize positive behavior and provide targeted supports when needed, helping create a culture where students can grow and excel.
