National Magnet Schools Month

Stewart Middle Magnet School and Magnet Schools of America (MSA) are celebrating National Magnet Schools Month in February. As leading examples of magnet school excellence, these schools provide outstanding learning opportunities for their students and join a growing group of recognized magnet programs across the country.

Our magnet students are settling in beautifully at their temporary home on the Just Elementary campus, continuing to learn, explore, and thrive while the district begins work on a brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art STEM facility at our original site. As we look ahead with excitement, we’re proud to share that our future school will expand its mission to include the arts—officially transforming us into a STEAM school. This enriching blend of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics strengthens the creativity and critical‑thinking skills that define a magnet school experience. Most importantly, it equips our students with the kind of innovative, future‑ready foundation that opens doors, inspires ambition, and empowers them to become the leaders and problem‑solvers of tomorrow.

Magnet Schools Month is a time to recognize the impact magnet schools have in expanding opportunity and strengthening public education,” said Ramin Taheri, CEO of Magnet Schools of America. “Across the country, these schools are creating engaging learning environments that prepare students to succeed in a rapidly changing world."

We are incredibly proud to recognize the outstanding teachers at our magnet school whose hard work, innovation, and unwavering dedication make our program exceptional. Each day, they bring learning to life, inspire creativity, and foster the curiosity that drives our STEAM mission forward. We also celebrate our school‑based administrators for their steady guidance and wholehearted support of the meaningful work happening in our classrooms. Our gratitude extends to our families and community partners, whose encouragement and collaboration strengthen everything we do. And most of all, we celebrate our amazing students—the heart of our school and the bright promise of our future.

Magnet schools are innovative public schools that use theme-based curricula to attract student s from across different backgrounds. These schools are open and accessible to all students. Magnet schools are the original and largest form of public school choice in America. There are currently 4,000 magnet schools, serving nearly 3.5 million students across 46 states and the District of Columbia.
