As the 2026-2027 school year approaches, excitement is building at Rodgers Middle Magnet School. From successful summer programs to increased family engagement and new opportunities for community involvement, Rodgers is entering the new school year with tremendous momentum and a shared commitment to student success.
Summer Bridge and Parent University Build a Strong Foundation
This summer, Rodgers welcomed students and families through its Summer Bridge program and Parent University Summer Series, creating meaningful opportunities for families to connect with the school before the first day of classes.
More than 50 families participated in Parent University, making a commitment to support their incoming 6th-grade Stingrays as they transition to middle school. One of the most inspiring aspects of the program was the strong presence of fathers and father figures who joined in making that commitment. Their involvement sent a powerful message that students thrive when schools, families, and communities work together.
The success of these summer initiatives reaffirmed something the Rodgers staff has long known: Rodgers families are engaged, supportive, and ready to be ALL IN for student success.
Rodgers Secures a PTSA
In another exciting development, Rodgers Middle Magnet School has officially established a Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).
The creation of the PTSA marks an important milestone in strengthening family and community partnerships. It opens the door for families, community members, and local organizations to become actively involved in supporting students and staff throughout the school year.
Whether through volunteering at events, mentoring students, supporting staff appreciation activities, participating in meetings, or sharing expertise and resources, there is a place for everyone to contribute to the success of Rodgers students.
Families are encouraged to share how they would like to be involved by completing the Rodgers Family & Community Involvement Interest Form sent via email. The feedback will help school leaders create meaningful opportunities for engagement and ensure that all interested stakeholders have a way to connect with the school community.
Building a Culture of Partnership
Rodgers continues to prioritize strong family-school partnerships because research and experience consistently show that students achieve more when families are actively engaged in their education.

Inaugural Back-to-School Bash Set to Bring the Community Together
The momentum continues on Saturday, August 1, when Rodgers hosts its inaugural Back-to-School Bash from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This free community event will provide students and families with an opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the school year, meet fellow Stingrays, and connect with school staff in a fun and welcoming environment.
Activities will include:

💃 Dance-Off Competition
🏆 Prizes and giveaways
In addition, the first 250 students in attendance will receive a fully loaded backpack filled with school supplies. Students must be present to receive a backpack, and supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Community Partnerships Making a Difference
The Back-to-School Bash is made possible through the generosity and partnership of Arise Church, whose support is helping provide resources and opportunities for Rodgers students and families.
Partnerships like these demonstrate what can happen when schools and community organizations come together with a shared purpose: supporting children and helping them thrive.
