As we gear up for a fantastic school year at Rodgers Middle Magnet School, the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors remains our absolute top priority.
To keep our hallways clear, prevent safety hazards, and protect our community, we are implementing important new procedures regarding personal transportation.
Effective immediately, we are rolling out a strict "Keep Wheels Outside" policy for all student rides, including bicycles, scooters, and e-bikes. Please review the new guidelines below, including critical safety updates regarding battery charging.
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY UPDATE: No Charging on Campus
With the rise of e-bikes and electric scooters, battery safety is a major concern. Due to the severe fire hazards associated with lithium-ion batteries, the charging of electric ride engines, batteries, or devices is strictly prohibited anywhere on the Rodgers Middle Magnet School campus.
Zero-Tolerance Hazard Prevention: Under no circumstances may a student plug an e-bike, scooter, battery pack, or charger into any school outlet—either indoors or outdoors.
Come Prepared: Students must ensure their devices are fully charged at home before commuting to school.
1. Required: Use Outdoor Racks
To prevent theft and damage, all bicycles, scooters, and e-bikes must be parked and secured within the designated, locked bike storage area.
Bring Your Own Lock: Students must always use their own lock to secure their ride. Please note that the school is not responsible for any lost or stolen property.
2. Strictly Prohibited: No Indoor Storage
Under no circumstances are rides allowed inside any school building. Bringing wheels inside poses a significant tripping and evacuation hazard. Rides are strictly prohibited in:
* Classrooms and Offices
* Corridors and Stairwells
* Gymnasiums and the Cafeteria
3. Key Access & Security Details
To ensure your student’s property remains safe while they are in class, we have established a secure schedule for the outdoor storage area:
Area Locked: The bike storage area will remain locked during standard school hours.
Access Times: The area will be opened specifically during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.
Early Departures: If a student needs to leave school early and retrieve their ride, they simply need to visit the main front office to request access.
