Dear Parents/Guardians,
Lutz K-8 School’s annual Book Character Parade will take place Friday, October 30th, beginning at 7:50 a.m. Students are invited to dress up like a favorite character from a book they have read. They will march in the parade as that character and carry the book from which their character came.
Please remember that the costume MUST depict a character from a book and not be a spooky Halloween costume.
NO SCARY/GORY Costumes. (We do not want to scare our younger students)
Costumes can be HOMEMADE, or store bought.
GROUP COSTUMES ALLOWED.
Students will need to change into school uniform after the parade.
We will be awarding prizes for costumes in the following categories:
MOST CREATIVE
FUNNIEST
MOST REALISTIC CHARACTER
BEST GROUP (no more than 2-4 students in a group)
Costumes will be judged by the Book Character Parade Committee and teachers. There will be a primary (pre-K-2nd), intermediate (3rd-5th) and middle school (6-8th) winner in each category. The winners will receive a prize!
Encourage your child to be creative and participate in this school-wide activity. Have fun and remember: Stay with a book character theme AND bring your book to carry during the parade.
Due to security restrictions, families will be viewing the parade in the FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. Please be aware that although the parade starts at 7:50 a.m., we will walk part of the school before going to the front. Please do not stop children to take photos. We try to keep the parade path moving for safety issues & to conclude in a timely manner. We walk slowly, so you should be able to get good pictures without interrupting the parade. Thank you for understanding.
