This is Dr. Phillips, principal of Lutz K-8 School.

We hope all our families enjoyed the holiday weekend.

This is a reminder that every Monday is an early release day for students.  Students are dismissed at 1:10 P.M.

Our annual principal fundraiser begins this week and runs through the beginning of October.  Information went home with students today.  Our goal is to raise $15,000 to support technology and educational needs and software for the school year.  Parents and family members can donate through cash, check, or online.  Students who donate at least $10 will participate in a popsicle party.  Students who donate at least $50 will have the opportunity to silly string our administrative team.  The top 5 donors will have lunch off campus with our Lutz administrative team!  Thank you in advance for your support of Lutz K-8 School!

Progress alerts go home this week for students for the first quarter.

Every Friday is college day.  Students and staff are invited to wear college gear to school!

This week is grandparents read to me week for grades 1-5 and this Friday is kindergarten’s grandparents read to me lunch for kindergarten.

This Thursday we kick off our boys’ basketball season with a middle school basketball game vs. Maniscalco K-8 at Buchanan Middle School at 6:00 P.M. Come on our and support our Lutz Leopards basketball team.

Parents, please reference information and the flyers that were shared with families at open house regarding our cell phone and uniform policy for students.  Students should be following our uniform policy on campus, and the use of cell phones and wireless communication devices is prohibited at all times unless students utilize a device with a teacher for learning purposes.  This information was updated from the state of Florida last school year and will be in effect for this school year in relation to cell phone usage.  Students should have their cell phones placed in their backpacks while on campus.

Yearbooks are on sale for the 2026-2027 school year.  Purchase your yearbook now for $40.

This week Junior Civitan continues their shoe drive.  Information will be sent home with students.

Thank you for your patience and understanding with arrival and dismissal as we start the school year.  We want to remind parents that drop off begins at 7:10 A.M.  Students should not be dropped off prior to this time due to lack of student supervision.  As you drop off students in the morning, please be sure to pull all the way up to help expedite our traffic process. Drop-off in the morning takes place at elementary pick-up point for all students. Once our buses have cleared, we open the front drop-off area for vehicles.  Please be reminded dismissal is at 2:10 P.M. and 1:10 P.M. on Mondays.  Middle school parents please do not arrive prior to 2:17 P.M. as this would help to expedite our dismissal and impacts our elementary dismissal process.  Please know that child safety is first and foremost.  This helps to ensure safety for all stakeholders and ensures the car line continues to move smoothly. We are asking all parents to adhere to right turns only when exiting onto U.S. Highway 41.  This will help to assist with traffic back-up into the school and will help to ensure a quicker dismissal process.

During arrival, parents parking and walking students up to school each day should utilize the Old Lutz Schoolhouse from 7:00 A.M. to 7:15 A.M.  Staff must ensure parking is available to receive students and your attention to this matter to ensure staff can park to accept students at 7:10 A.M. and this process will help in ensuring parking is not further restricted.  Thank you for your attention and support in this matter.

During dismissal, all parents picking up students should utilize the elementary or middle school pick-up point line.  Only pre-k parents can walk up and pick up their students.  All other families should remain in their vehicles and pick students up in line.  This is to ensure safety and help to continue the flow of traffic smoothly.

Don’t forget to join our PTSA for the 2026-2027 school year. Please connect to our schools PTSA Facebook page for more information.

Additionally, ensure you have a parent FOCUS account created to view important information on students throughout the school year.

Once again this is Dr. Phillips the principal at Lutz K-8 school, and each day is a new day of learning for leopards!
