💙 Breaking the stigma, building connections! Students from Tampa Bay Tech, East Bay, Leto, Gaither, Riverview, Middleton and The Medical Academy at DW Waters attended the annual Strike the Stigma Symposium, hosted by the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Blue.

🏈 Keynote speaker BJ Daniels, former USF quarterback and Super Bowl-winning NFL veteran, shared his personal journey and struggles with mental health, reminding students of the importance of having a strong support system.

“You don't have to play sports to have a locker room. I have friends and they love me. When I do not know what I'm supposed to do or where I'm supposed to be, they still support me.”

🧠 Through honest conversations, practical coping strategies and connections to community resources, students were encouraged to prioritize their mental well-being and remember that no one has to navigate life's challenges alone.

🍎💙 More Than a Principal

This National Principals Month, HCPS is celebrating the dedicated school leaders who do so much more than lead. Our principals are mentors, advocates, problem-solvers, and champions for their students, staff, and school communities.

We’re grateful for the leadership, dedication, and heart they bring to our schools every day!

“Because of AVID, I…”

Today we celebrate AVID Day, joining schools across the country in recognizing the impact of educators and students working together to expand access and opportunity.

AVID strengthens skills like critical thinking, organization, collaboration, and self-advocacy, helping students prepare for college, careers, and beyond. We are proud of the growth we see every day in our AVID students and grateful for the shared commitment of the educators who help make it possible.

AVID continues to elevate potential, expand opportunity, and strengthen pathways to the future. 💙
