Our students had an incredible experience at the Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots HOPE in Action Environmental Summit (a special thanks to organizer Bonnie Eaton)! The day began with students selecting two Inspiration Stations during the morning session, where they explored different environmental topics and learned from passionate leaders dedicated to protecting our planet. We then watched a short and moving tribute to Dr. Jane Goodall, which truly set the tone for a day centered on hope, action, and stewardship.
After lunch, students had the opportunity to meet a wide range of environmental and wildlife conservation organizations from across Tampa and Pinellas County. They connected with inspiring individuals who are making a real difference in our community-including ORCA, who are working to replant coral reefs in our oceans, Tampa Bay Watch, which reaches young people through education and experiential learning, as well as experts in sustainable gardening, bird conservation, bat conservation, and so much more. It was powerful for students to see firsthand how local organizations are creating meaningful environmental change.
To end the day, we had the special privilege of viewing the movie HOPPER (Thank you Disney) before it hits theaters, which was an exciting and memorable treat for everyone. Our students were exceptionally well-behaved, engaged, and curious throughout the entire summit. It was a truly wonderful afternoon filled with inspiration, learning, and a deeper connection to the environmental work happening right here in our community.
