We were excited to welcome Sydney and Grace from Tampa Bay Watch to campus for a powerful, hands-on learning experience focused on invasive lionfish. They engaged students in a thoughtful discussion about how lionfish impact Florida’s marine ecosystems and then guided them through a real stomach content dissection.
Our students were incredibly impressive throughout the experience—focused, respectful, and genuinely curious. They asked thoughtful questions, handled the specimens responsibly, and demonstrated a strong understanding of how invasive species affect local food webs. It was a powerful example of students rising to the level of authentic, real-world science.
Thank you Tampa Bay Watch!
