It's National Arts in Education Week! 🎨🎭 HCPS celebrates the importance of arts education, which fosters creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking across our district. Whether through painting, music, dance, or theater, the arts enrich student learning.

During National Latin & Hispanic Heritage Month, our school district celebrates the rich cultures, traditions, and achievements of Hispanic and Latino communities. 🇲🇽🇨🇺🇸🇻

CALLING ALL STUDENT ARTISTS! 🖍️ It’s time to show off your creativity with our Every Day Matters Poster Contest. In partnership with United Way Suncoast, we’re challenging students to show why coming to school every day makes a difference. Use a powerful slogan, meaningful artwork, or both to share your unique perspective on what motivates you to show up.
The contest will run through Friday, October 10. Posters must be submitted through your art teacher and sent via school mail to our K-12 Arts Supervisor, Laura Hobby.

Start with Hello Week Schedule

A big shout out goes to some students from Shields Middle School for visiting with some of our second-grade students this morning. Our students read books written by Donna Barba Higuera with our middle school friends. Ms. Higuera is the HCPS Library Media Department's featured author for the month of September. Shields Middle School is hosting a virtual interview with Ms. Higuera on Tuesday and will share some of our student's drawings wither her then.

Good evening.
MAJOR CHANGE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Due to our new arrival and dismissal procedures we have to make some updates and changes.
WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW SIGN-OUTS AFTER 1:00 PM. Per Safety Regulations, all cars must be out of the front parking lot before the first bus arrives and none can enter again until the last bus leaves.
Important Updates
Arrival- the gate will be closing at 7:35 to allow the remaining cars to unload students and staff to be instructing at 7:40AM (at the tardy bell). Cars arriving after 7:35 will use the main entrance. After the 7:40 bell, park and walk your student to the office to sign in late. NO cars will be permitted in the front entrance until 7:35AM due to district safety procedures.
Dismissal- The carline gate will open at 1:30 PM daily. This allows our campus to remain secure until supervision is present. Cars should be in a single line and will be guided to the appropriate lane by staff. Cars arriving after 2:15 will need to pick up their student from the office. Our staff have afternoon obligations at 2:15 so please arrive on time.
Thank you for flexibility! Hopefully this will be our final change.

Good evening. We made it through day 1 of the new procedure! Each day will be faster and smoother just like the beginning of the year. We added about 60 cars to the line by combining and we were only about 10 minutes longer in the AM and PM.
Much of the backup this morning was from cars turning left out of the lot and from those turning in from the left and blocking the exit for other cars trying to leave. THANK YOU TO ALL FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURES even when it takes a few extra minutes or takes you out of the way! The rules apply to all.
As we work through the bumps in the procedure, we may have to make some changes. Those changes will be communicated with you as they arise.
Reminder- no cars are allowed in front main entrance before 7:45 AM and after 1:15 PM so buses can enter and exit.
For dismissal, the gate will open at 1:30 PM. All cars must wait in the same line- no pulling around others. All will enter the gate and PreK and Headstart will go left and all others will stay right and use both lanes.
Some things to make the line more efficient tomorrow:
Stay to the right and use both lanes once past the sign with the cones.
Have your car tag visible and remove it when loaded.
PreK Headstart Access use flashers.
Pull as far forward as possible.
PreK Headstart and Access with siblings, please use the regular line for ONE pickup.
We appreciate you for helping make safety a priority! Have a great night and see you tomorrow.

September is Attendance Awareness Month! Ensuring every student attends school regularly is crucial for their success and bright futures. Your support can make a difference!

Our new carline location starts TOMORROW morning! Cars will enter the large staff lot and stay in the RIGHT LANE. Our staff will use the left lane to enter, please do not block their lane. Follow the loop around to the STOP lines and wait for staff directives. To keep the line moving, make sure your student is ready to exit the car quickly (unbuckled, backpack and items ready). Parents must stay in their car and students will exit the passenger side of the vehicle along the curb. The new line allows 11 cars to load and unload at a time. Stay in a single line, going around stopped cars is not permitted in the unloading area.
Safety patrols must arrive before 7:05 AM to use the same loop as always.
After 7:05 AM, all cars will have to loop the full line. No exceptions to the time or procedure will be made.
A video of the procedure is posted to our Facebook pages.
Please be patient as we work through the new process. See you in the morning!

Wishing ALL of our incredible employees a happy and safe Labor Day! Your dedication and hard work make a positive difference in our students' lives. Thank you for everything you do!
