Academy of Financial Technology

SEFFNER, Fla. – Armwood High School is proud to announce that its current Academy of Finance will transition to the Academy of Financial Technology beginning in the 2027-2028 school year. This exciting evolution reflects the growing convergence of finance, business, and technology while creating new opportunities for students to develop skills that are highly sought after in today's workforce. The new Academy of Financial Technology will remain a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program and, unlike many specialized high school programs, will be a non-magnet and non-choice academy, allowing students greater access to a high-demand career pathway while remaining engaged in the traditional high school experience. The academy will provide students with a foundation in financial literacy, business operations, fintech applications, data analytics, cybersecurity awareness, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies that are transforming the financial services industry.

A unique advantage of this new pathway is its alignment with the Armwood High School Collegiate Academy. Students enrolled in the Collegiate Academy can leverage advanced coursework such as AP Business and AP Computer Science to complement their Academy of Financial Technology studies. By combining rigorous academic coursework with career-focused instruction, students can develop both the technical and business skills necessary for future success.

In addition, students will have opportunities to participate in On-the-Job Training (OJT) experiences, allowing them to apply classroom learning in real-world business and technology environments. Through industry partnerships and work-based learning opportunities, students can gain practical experience, build professional networks, and develop employability skills while still in high school.

"The financial industry is rapidly evolving, and technology has become central to nearly every aspect of business and finance," said academy leadership. "The Academy of Financial Technology will provide students with the knowledge, technical skills, and workplace experiences needed to thrive in both college and career pathways."

The academy's curriculum is designed to prepare students for postsecondary study, industry certifications, internships, and careers in fields such as:

  • Financial Technology (FinTech)

  • Data Analytics

  • Business Information Systems

  • Banking and Financial Services

  • Cybersecurity

  • Artificial Intelligence Applications

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Business Management

As Armwood High School continues to expand innovative opportunities for students, the Academy of Financial Technology represents a forward-thinking investment in preparing graduates for the future economy. Through the combination of CTE coursework, collegiate-level academics, and OJT experiences, students will be uniquely positioned to graduate with both academic and career advantages. [Thrillshare]
