Welcome to Young Middle Magnet School – Home of the Buffaloes!
I am thrilled to welcome you to Young Middle Magnet School and excited to continue serving our students, families, and community as principal. At Young, we are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience that prepares every student for success in school, career, and life.
At Young Middle Magnet School, our vision is to develop empowered leaders, innovative thinkers, and responsible citizens who create meaningful positive change. We are dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students are challenged to reach their full potential while developing the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
This year, we are especially excited to introduce the Young Middle Magnet Academy of Professional Pathways, an innovative magnet program designed to help students explore future careers, develop professional skills, and connect their learning to real-world opportunities.

Literacy is Key at Young Middle Magnet
Our students and staff find engaging ways to encourage reading! Book Talk Book Club brings students together for engaging discussions about the books they read. Students share insight, ask questions, and celebrate their love of reading in a collaborative and supportive setting.

Marketing
Students will be introduced to the entrepreneurial mindset and skills that can help them achieve success in both tech entrepreneurship and in life. They also will build two apps with MIT App Inventor, a drag-and-drip tool that allows users to create functional mobile apps that can be downloaded to any Android device.
Entrepreneurship
In NFTE's (National Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) Entrepreneurship I course, students use their entrepreneurial skills and mindset to evolve an innovative solution to a problem into a validated business opportunity. Students take a lean startup approach in researching and testing their ideas; building out a lean canvas to support their business opportunity validation. Students also put together customer and competitor profiles, marketing campaigns, and a financial analysis to support their claims about the feasibility of their business idea. Towards the end of the school year, students have opportunities to pitch their business opportunities to judges in local, regional, and national competitions.
