Principal Karen Fletcher

Welcome Back, Wildcats!

Dear Wimauma Families, Staff, and Community,

Welcome to a very special school year at Wimauma Elementary School. As we begin our 100th year, I am filled with gratitude, excitement, and hope for all that lies ahead. Our centennial theme, Built to ROAR! 100 Years Strong!, honors our rich history while reminding us that our greatest legacy is the impact we have on children each and every day.

When I arrived at Wimauma Elementary as an Assistant Principal in 2015, I quickly learned that this school is much more than a place where students come to learn, it is a family. From my very first days on campus, I was welcomed by caring families, dedicated staff, supportive community members, and students who were proud to be Wildcats. Over the years, I have watched students grow into young leaders, celebrated milestones with families, and worked alongside an incredible staff whose commitment to children inspires me every day.

What continues to stand out to me most is the heart of this community. When I attend community meetings, school events, family nights, and celebrations throughout Wimauma, I see and feel the genuine compassion people have for one another and for our children. There is a deep sense of pride, resilience, and commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

As I transitioned into the principalship, that belief only grew stronger. I have seen firsthand what is possible when educators, families, students, and community members unite around a common purpose. What makes Wimauma special is not simply our history or accomplishments, it is our people. Time and again, I have witnessed this community come together to support one another, overcome challenges, and celebrate successes. That spirit is the foundation of who we are, and the reason Wimauma has remained strong for 100 years.

As we begin this new year, our commitment remains unwavering:

Vision: 100% of our students will achieve proficiency or above in Reading and Mathematics and maintain proficiency each subsequent year.

Mission: Every Student. Every Day. Empowered to Succeed.

This year, we will continue building strong relationships, providing high-quality instruction, and creating opportunities for every child to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We will celebrate our past while working together to create an even brighter future for the students we serve.

Thank you for trusting us with your children, supporting our staff, and partnering with our school. As we celebrate 100 Years Strong, I invite you to join us in making this a year filled with learning, growth, joy, and unforgettable memories. Together, we will honor our legacy, embrace new opportunities, and continue ensuring that every Wildcat is empowered to succeed.

Stronger Together. Built to ROAR! 100 Years Strong!

With gratitude and Wildcat pride,

Karen Fletcher

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides funding to participating schools so they can provide a variety of free fresh fruits and vegetables to children throughout the school day. It is an effective and creative way to introduce fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options. The goals of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) are to: Create healthier school environments by providing healthier food choices. Expand the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience. Increase children's fruit and vegetable consumption. Make a difference in children's diets to impact their present and future health.
