Welcome to Newsome High School! As your principal, I’m honored to partner with our amazing students, families, staff, and community. For over 20 years, Newsome has led in educational excellence, and together, we’ll build on that legacy.

Our goal is to create a supportive environment where every student thrives—academically, socially, and emotionally. Collaboration and family involvement are key to our continued success, and we encourage your active participation.

Our NHS Band took home a rating of Superiors at Marching Band MPA during the 24-25 school year.

NHS Band rocked last year!

Marching Band: Undefeated - Class 4A and Grand Champion at the Newsome Regional, Lakewood Ranch Regional, and Seminole Sound Spectacular, Straight Superior Rating at Florida Bandmasters Association, Marching Band MPA, 21st consecutive year FFCC Class 4A State Finalist, Will attend the 2026 Sugar Bowl Parade and the 2027 Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade and Limerick International Band Festival in Ireland Wind Symphony: Straight Superior Rating at FBA Concert Band MPA for 2nd consecutive year-Jazz Band: Straight Superior Rating at FBA Jazz Band MPA for 2nd consecutive year-Winterguard: FFCC Scholastic AA State Silver Medalist - 2nd place-Indoor Percussion: FFCC Scholastic A Finalist - 5th place

JROTC Highlights

Mixed Raider Team:1st Place National Raider Competition, FT Knox. KY, 1st Place State Raider Competition -Rifle Team:1st Place District Competition, 3rd Place State Competition, 9th Place CMP Army JROTC Regional Championship, Anniston, AL-Cadet Colin Donnelly was the top individual in the district, state, and region, and #8 overall in the nation.-Cyber-Patriot Team:Finished in the Gold Tier in the semifinal round-Drill Team:2nd at Districts-Color Guard Team, 1st at Districts-JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl Team: Both teams advanced to Level II

Bringing Home the Hardware

District Champions: Volleyball, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Boys Golf, Boys and Girls Swim, Boys Soccer, Boys Basketball, Boys Track, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Boys and Girls Tennis, and Baseball. Regional Champs: Girls Tennis Boys and Girls Swim also won County Championship and placed 3rd at State. Our cheer was State Runner-Up. 27 of our athletes signed to compete at the next level.

Aerospace

AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGY

Students will learn about engineering practices, problem solving, and the innovations and technological developments that have made today’s aviation and aerospace industries possible.
Game and Sim

GAMING AND SIMULATION

Through market research, product design documentation, storyboarding, proposal development, and project report presentations, students gain hands-on experience in creating well-documented and structured games or simulation programs. They also get to gain knowledge of game and simulation concepts and careers.

FORENSIC SCIENCE

Forensic Science enables students to experience the application of science to the investigation of a crime. Students will integrate the use of scientific evidence, critical argument, deductive reasoning, problem solving, and reporting media. How exciting!
AP

ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES

Newsome offers 20+ AP course options for students to choose from. Options range from AP Language, where students gain an understanding of the semantic, structural, and rhetorical resources of the English language as they relate to the principles of effective writing; to AP Chemistry where students learn the structure of matter, states of matter, chemical reactions, and descriptive chemistry. Talk to your guidance counselor to learn about the options that interest you!
