We hope all our families had a relaxing and restful fall break with friends and family.  It was so great to see our Leopards back on campus today returning from break.

Just a reminder the choice window for the district is now open and will close next Saturday December 11th.  Fifth grade families must complete a choice application in order to attend Lutz for middle school.  Parents can apply by going to the Hillsborough County Public Schools website.  The website is Hillsborough County Public Schools / Homepage (  Once there, click parents, then choice, then apply.  When completing the application, please be sure to only list Lutz K-8 School on the application.  We look forward to all of our fifth-grade students joining us next year in sixth grade as they begin their middle school journey.

Buy your Lutz K-8 Yearbook now to lock in the price of $35!  Our yearbook will cover PreK-8th grade.  Student dedication ads are available for K, 5th, and 8th grade parents.  Go to and enter code 24724

Our National Junior Honor’s Society is sponsoring their veteran’s help drive that will run through December 15th.  Our school collects personal items that veterans can use.  One of the most needed items include socks, but they will also accept items such as combs, brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, bodywash, tissue, undergarments, t-shirts, handkerchiefs, etc.  Students can drop off these items when arriving to school near the front office and we appreciate all the support our families show our veteran’s in need.

Thank you to the students and families who have donated to our school donation fundraiser.  We are asking for donations from families to support technology and other school-based needs.  So far, we have raised nearly $8,000 to use towards technology and other school-based needs.  We are almost to our goal of $10,000 for this school year and hope to raise the remainder of our funds prior to winter break.  Students who donate at least $10 dollars will participate in a popsicle party.  Students who donate at least $50 dollars will get the opportunity to silly string the Lutz K-8 administrative team.  The top three donations will have the chance to be administrators for the day.  Celebrations will occur once we return from winter break.  Thanks to all our families for supporting the needs of Lutz K-8 School!

This is a reminder that we have our Angel Tree up in the front office for any families that would like to stop by and support families here at Lutz K-8 School.

This Wednesday December 1st our track team will have their meet at Wharton High School.  The meet will begin at 6:00 P.M. and tickets can be purchased in advance on the district website.  Come out and support out Lutz Leopards track team!

Thursday December 2nd students and staff are invited to wear college gear to school!

Next week PTSA will have its annual Holiday Shop from December 7th-9th.  Students will have the opportunity to shop during school hours right here at school.  More information is to come regarding this event.

This is a reminder that school starts at 7:40 A.M. for students.  We want to ensure students arrive on time and are in class prepared to learn.  If your child happens to be tardy, please ensure you exit your vehicle and walk them to the front office.  This is to ensure student safety as we should not be releasing students from your vehicle without supervision.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Please do not forget to join PTA who works diligently throughout the school year to support staff and students.  Families can join by going to their website at

If your student is absent from school, thank you for communicating that information to your child’s teacher.  When your child is absent, please remember to contact the school’s attendance line to report your child’s absence.  Also, this is a reminder that school starts at 7:40 A.M.  We want to ensure all students are on time and ready to learn each morning!  If your child is arriving after 7:40 A.M. please be sure you walk your child to the front office doors.

Middle school parents arriving prior to 2:15 P.M. please follow the elementary pick-up point line.  Please do not park along the grass along the entrance to the school as this creates a safety issue with our afternoon traffic.  Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

We are asking all parents to adhere to right turns only when exiting onto U.S. Highway 41.  This helps to assist with traffic back-up into the school and will help to ensure a quicker dismissal process.

Once again this is Mr. Phillips the principal at Lutz K-8 school and each day is a new day of learning for Leopards!
