Principal's Message

Photo of Monica Barber, principal of B.T. Washington Elementary School

I’m Monica Barber, proud principal of Booker T. Washington Elementary, and I’m excited to welcome you to our amazing school community! It is truly an honor to serve at a school with such rich history and deep community roots.

At BTWE, we are a student-centered school that believes in the power of connection and belonging. Every day, we work to ensure our students feel heard, seen, and valued. We recognize the unique strengths and experiences each child brings, and we build upon that knowledge by partnering closely with our parents and caregivers.

Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We take great pride in celebrating our school’s legacy while preparing students for bright and successful futures.

Family and community involvement play a vital role in our success. Throughout the year, there will be many opportunities for you to get involved—whether it’s volunteering, joining our School Advisory Committee, participating in our Parent-Teacher Organization, or attending school events.

Together, we will continue to honor our past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future. Welcome to a new school year at BTWE—where we #KeepIt100 every day!

Warmly,
Monica Barber
