Fingerprinting - Jessica Lunsford Act Compliance

Dear Contractors and Vendors:
On February 3, 2014, the District posted a letter on this website and sent an email notification to all contractors and vendors required to be cleared through the Jessica Lunsford Act, of changes that would be put into place by the end of March 2014.
This letter is the updated information, as we have a definite date when the conversion and changes to the method of payment accepted by the School District will take place. Effective March 21, 2014, all contractors and vendors who have not completed the fingerprinting process will be required to pay for fingerprinting. All payments prepaid through Cogent will no longer be accepted after March 20, 2014 and all refund requests must go directly through Cogent and your credit card provider.
The District will accept one money order, credit or debit card payment for the total amount of the Jessica Lunsford Act process -$93.00. This amount includes State and District badges. A $5.50 bank /convenience fee will be added to all credit/debit card transactions.

Jessica Lunsford Act (JLA) Contractor/Vendor List
The following contractors, subcontractors of such contractors, and employees of such contractors and/or subcontractors have met the requirements of the Jessica Lunsford Act, are qualified to work with Hillsborough County Public Schools, Florida.
That is,
- They have completed a Level II fingerprint screening which consists of an FDLE/FBI background check and includes all sealed and expunged documents for all of their employees who will have access to school sites or school funds; and
- They have met the district’s general guidelines for criminal history background.
Once qualified, any new information from FDLE will be automatically reported to the office of Professional Standards through the 5-year validity period.

JLA Letters and Documents
Effective January 1, 2019: The fee for fingerprinting is $93.00 payable by money order, credit or debit card. Fingerprinting fee includes State and District badges. A $5.50 bank/convenience fee will be added to all credit/debit card transactions. Badge Fees: State Replacement Badge - $10.00, HCPS County Badge - $8.00.
Service providers that are requesting JLA badges to drive, must submit a valid driver's license, twenty years of driving history from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles or the Clerk of the Court along with the JLA documents for clearance and approval.
The JLA Contractor/Vendor Site Request Confirmation form must be completed by the School/District site and returned to the Fingerprinting Department by Email: fingerprinting@hcps.net or Fax: 813-840-7191. Please be advised that the School/District site must verify that services are requested by the Contractor/Vendor before the Contractor/Vendor can receive an approved HCPS District Badge. HCPS District Badge will not be issued to the Contractor/Vendor without the completion of the JLA Contractor/Vendor Site Request Confirmation form from the requesting School/District site.
