Advanced Placement

  • What is Advanced Placement?
    Advanced Placement, AP is a program created by the College Board that offers rigorous college level courses and examinations that are taken at the high school level.

    AP Quick Facts

    • AP is offered at all HCPS high schools.
    • Advanced Placement course offerings will vary from site to site.
    • Students who take AP exams and earn a qualifying score can earn college credit.
    • Students who take AP Seminar, AP Research and 4 additional AP courses of their choice and earn qualifying scores on all AP exams can earn the AP Capstone Diploma.

    What is Cambridge AICE?
    Advanced International Certificate of Education, AICE is a program that is part of the Cambridge Pathway that offers accelerated college level courses and exami-nations throughout high school.

    AICE Quick Facts

    • AICE will be offered at all HCPS high schools beginning in the fall of 2023.
    • AICE course offerings and the diploma op-tion will vary from site to site.
    • Students who take AICE exams and earn a qualifying score can earn college credit.
    • Students who complete the AICE diploma, by obtaining 7 qualifying exam scores are eligible for Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.

HCPS Collegiate Academy

  • What is Collegiate Academy?
    Collegiate Academy, CA provides students an opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) through Hillsborough Community College while also earning their high school diploma.

    CA Quick Facts

    • The Collegiate Academy is offered at the following high schools:
      *Armwood High *Lennard High *Leto High *Spoto High
    • Students enrolled in the Collegiate Academy will take Dual Enrollment courses.
    • To gain entrance into the Collegiate Acade-my program, students must apply through the HCPS magnet office.

Dual Enrollment

  • What is Dual Enrollment?
    Dual Enrollment, DE is the enrollment of an eligible secondary student in a postsecondary course credita-ble toward high school completion and career certifi-cate, an associate or baccalaureate degree.

    DE Quick Facts

    • Credits and grades earned through DE will be a part of the student's permanent college record.
    • DE courses are offered at high school sites and college campuses, either in person or online.
    • Students can take courses at Hillsborough Com-munity College and or USF. *restrictions apply
    • To be eligible to enroll in DE students must have a minimum 3.0 (HCC) or 3.5 (USF) high school un-weighted GPA and qualifying college placement test score.
