New School Projects
As residential development grows in Hillsborough County, the school district is breaking ground on multiple projects that will create space for the increase in students. The projects, part of the district's Five-Year Work Plan, span pre-kindergarten to high school and include two school expansions and a new magnet school.

Newsome High School Auditorium
Hillsborough County School District is planning to build a new auditorium at Newsome High School to accommodate increased enrollment from when the school opened.
The auditorium is scheduled to open in August of 2023.

Collins Elementary Expansion into PK-8
Hillsborough County School District is planning to expand Collins Elementary to create a prekindergarten through eighth grade school.
The expansion is scheduled to open August 2023, increasing the school’s capacity to 1,566 students.
Separately, Hillsborough County government is planning a potential community center to the north of the campus. The school and community center are planned to share some recreational facilities.
A community meeting was held Aug. 18, 2021, at the school to discuss the expansion. The presentation shared at the meeting can be viewed below.

Manhattan Magnet PK-8
A new magnet school will replace the existing Manhattan Center offices at 4210 W. Bay Villa Ave. in Tampa. The school is scheduled to open in August 2024.
The district received a special use permit in March 2022 through the City of Tampa to construct the school. The school will have a 1,620-student capacity and will include prekindergarten through eighth grades.
A neighborhood meeting was held Aug. 5, 2021, at the current Manhattan Center building to discuss the project with the community and gather feedback. The presentation from the meeting can be viewed below or downloaded here.
