Hillsborough County Public Schools takes pride in supporting comprehensive Art Education for all students from kindergarten through grade 12. Through a well-rounded curriculum and strong community support, the HCPS Art Education Department prioritizes student success by fostering creative thinking. Elementary students receive regular weekly instruction, while middle and high school students choose from a wide range of courses, including 2D and 3D art, AP Art & Design, and Art History. Art education not only develops artistic skills but also enhances real-world abilities like creative problem solving, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and communication. At its core, HCPS Art Education is about creativity, connection, and using art to inspire positive change in the community.

The art experience in Hillsborough County’s middle schools provide opportunities to explore, research,

The art experience in Hillsborough County’s high schools provideboth introductory opportunities for students interested in introductory art skills and concepts as well as more mastery level application for advanced students. Whether introductory or advanced, art concepts and skills build on academic and personal connections, leading to ultimate student growth. Semester and annual courses range from an introduction to art history to drawing/painting (2D) and ceramics/sculpture (3D). Acceleration options (AP/AICE/IB) are also an option in many art programs.
