Students applying for the elementary Center for Gifted Studies have additional entrance criteria.

Aerospace Engineering Academy
Aerospace and Astronautic students will use mathematics, natural sciences, engineering and technology through authentic projects and problem solving activities to develop an understanding of all aspects of flight. The skills of individual leadership and self reliance will be developed through team activities and competition involvement in the Technology Student Association (TSA) and Civil Air Patrol (CAP) helping students prepare for success in the most rigorous high school program.
Aerospace involves all aspects of aeronautics (working with aircraft) and Astronautics focuses on working with spacecraft. Aerospace and astronautics technicians conduct research, design and develop vehicles and systems for atmospheric and space environments, specialize in one of many areas such as aerodynamics, propulsion, flight mechanics, orbital mechanics, guidance & control systems, and vehicle piloting.

Bio-Engineering Academy
Bioengineering is the application of the life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and engineering principles to define and solve problems in biology, medicine, health care, agriculture and other fields.
Bioengineering is a relatively new discipline that combines many aspects of traditional engineering fields such as chemical, electrical, medical and mechanical engineering. Using engineering software and related technologies, this program allows students explore a variety of authentic bioengineering projects and problems while integrating and incorporating the essentials of STEM education in all courses.

Center for Gifted Studies
The Center for Gifted Studies is a program for first through fifth grade students located within Boyette Springs Elementary School. The Center is designed for identified gifted students who seek a full-time gifted program offering advanced level learning experiences and opportunities for talent development.
The Center for Gifted Studies offers a high quality and distinctive program specifically for students who meet Florida’s Gifted eligibility requirement. The Center utilizes the research-supported Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) approach whose goals are developing talents, providing a broad range of enrichment experiences, and providing advanced learning for children based upon interests. The approach emphasizes engagement and the use of enjoyable and challenging learning experiences and results in the development of motivation, creativity, advanced thinking skills and collaboration.
A student must meet one of the criteria listed below for this application to be processed.
- My child is currently enrolled in a Hillsborough County Public School (HCPS) and is classified as Gifted in Florida and has a current Florida Gifted Educational Plan (EP) or a current Florida Individual Education Plan (IEP) that includes Gifted Services.
- My child is currently in a private school, home schooled, or resides out of county and is classified as Gifted in Florida and has a current Florida Gifted Educational Plan (EP) or a current Florida Individual Education Plan (IEP) that includes Gifted Services.
A copy of the EP must be submitted to complete this application. - My child has a qualifying score on an individually administered standardized test of intelligence (IQ test).
A copy of the formal evaluation report from the licensed psychologist must be submitted along with the application. - My child is transferring from another state and is classified as Gifted in their home state AND has an Educational Plan (EP) / Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) Or Official Documents/Records that give evidence that student received Gifted services from the previous state/district. A copy of the Official Documents/Records must be submitted to complete the application.
Boyette Springs Elementary School
- My child is currently enrolled in a Hillsborough County Public School (HCPS) and is classified as Gifted in Florida and has a current Florida Gifted Educational Plan (EP) or a current Florida Individual Education Plan (IEP) that includes Gifted Services.

Robotics Engineering Academy
Robotics is a branch of engineering that involves the development, design, manufacture, and operation of robots. Robotics uses electronics, computer science, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and bioengineering to enhance the quality of life for humans.

Academy of Finance
The Academy of Finance equips students with the knowledge to excel in the financial marketplace. The program is a member of the National Academy Foundation, which offers students a curriculum in financial markets, banking, investments and financial planning. Students participating in this program will have the opportunity to obtain a paid summer internship, work in the student-led Suncoast Federal Credit Union branch, participate in job shadowing field trips and compete in DECA events.

Aerospace Technology Academy
Embry-Riddle, MacDill Aerospace Academy Robinson’s Aerospace Academy, built upon Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s 4-year Dual Enrollment High School Aerospace Program, is a program that introduces students to the many careers in the Aerospace Industry. Recent graduates in the program have received college scholarships to prestigious universities, to include acceptance into Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Military Service Academies. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has provided Robinson with state-of-the-art drones and aircraft simulators worth tens of thousands of dollars. 10th, 11th and 12th graders have the opportunity to take 3 different dual-enrollment college credit courses and earn industry level certifications. From Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) certifications, aka drones, to earning their Private Pilot License upon graduation through state grants, your student’s completion of the program will give them a head start to an exciting career in Aerospace.

Fire Fighting/EMT
Fire Sciences prepares students for careers as firefighters upon completion of state and national exams. This four-credit program prepares student to provide initial care to sick or injured people as part of an organized medical response team. In addition to Fire Science, the Emergency Medical Responder Program prepares individuals to provide initial care to sick or injured persons as ambulance drivers and attendants.
