All volunteers and community partners must complete the HCPS Volunteer Application or have a verified current/active volunteer profile. Applications are not required to be submitted annually; submissions are based on the expiration date. Notices of renewal are sent to applicants 30/15/5 days prior to expiration. Application renewals become available 30 days prior to expiration.
Completing the HCPS Volunteer Application is the first step in the process for volunteering in one of our schools. The volunteer application process includes Volunteer Policy and Procedure Acknowledgement, Information Collection and Background Check Authorization. Applications should be submitted at least two to four weeks prior to any volunteer activity. Allow longer for Level 2 Fingerprinting.Current/active volunteers do not need to complete the HCPS Volunteer Application until 30 days prior to your expiration date. Please contact the school directly for volunteer opportunities and to verify status. You can also log into the Volunteer Portal to verify status and update school selections (see guide below).
ALL other Volunteers and Community Partners without a current/active application will need to submit the applicable HCPS volunteer application.
Active Level 1 volunteers wishing to request a Level 2 function (Level 2, Overnight Chaperone; Level 2 Tutor/Mentor; Level 2 Music/Band Instructor), should email request to volunteer.services@hcps.net. Please include first name, last name, date of birth, level 2 function, and school name.
FRS Retirees - If you are a retiree from the Florida Retirement System and have been retired less than one year, you must call FRS to confirm your eligibility to volunteer. Call (844) 377-1888, ask for the Enrollment Department. Once you have confirmed that you are eligible to volunteer, you can complete the HCPS Volunteer and Community Partners Application (HB 1121) and select appropriate affiliation (FRS Retiree).
We are thankful to the many volunteers and community partners that say Y.E.S. (You Empower Students) every day to collaborate with us in preparing our students for life.
