ABE/GED Program

  • The Adult Basic Education program is for students who need a high school diploma, have legally withdrawn from a traditional K-12 school or score at the ABE level on the TABE placement assessment. The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)& CASA Goals is used to determine reading, math and language performance levels to place students into our programs appropriately.ABE classes help adult students improve basic skills in math, reading, and language arts. GED courses are designed to prepare students to successfully complete the four GED subject area tests leading to a State of Florida High School Diploma or premeditate to desired TABE/CASAS levels. GED courses include Language Arts Writing, Language Arts Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.Students progress at their own pace, learn basic skills, and prepare for entry into the GED program or vocational/technical training opportunities.Course work assists the student in attaining success aimed at satisfying the needs of adults wishing to change or maintain career goals, improve basic academic skills or otherwise further their educational opportunities.Our ABE/GED programs are conveniently designed to provide instruction through face-to-face, traditional classroom experiences or computer-based for those individuals choosing to study from home. Courses are available mornings, afternoons and evenings. If you are interested in attending classes, check out a list of sites near you. Once you have selected a site, please visit or call to schedule an appointment to discuss your available options.  Students participating in our ABE/GED programs may also take advantage of our Family Literacy program that allows their children up to the age of five to attend classes also.
