Tampa Bay Citizenship Program

  • The Tampa Bay Citizenship Program is an Adult Education project managed by the CARIBE Program and funded by the U.S. Department of homeland Security (DHS), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The program provides free citizenship instruction and naturalization application services to legal permanent residents (LPRs) of Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Manatee counties.

The citizenship preparation course instructs LPRs in U.S. History and Government; English as a Second Language (ESL) reading, writing and speaking; the U.S. naturalization process and eligibility interview, with the ultimate goal of preparing them to pass the citizenship examination and successfully becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen.

The naturalization application service component of the program provides free legal assistance and case management for LPRs throughout the entire naturalization process. N-400 applications will be reviewed by a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)'s Office of Legal Access Programs (OLAP) accredited representative or an attorney prior to submission. Services may also include interview preparation, a representative’s appearance at the naturalization interview, and filing of other forms or documents, if applicable.
