Psychological Services

Helping Children and Youth Succeed

  • Psychological services are available at all public school sites within the district. School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for students. School psychologists support strong connections between home and school.

Services provided by school psychologists include, but are not limited to: individualized psychoeducational evaluations and behavioral assessments, support for developing interventions to assist students in both general education and special education settings, short-term counseling, crisis counseling, and consultation with parents and educators. Psychological Services endeavors to provide quality services to students and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Hillsborough County Public Schools’ psychologists have advanced degrees, and many have specialized training and experience in a variety of areas. School psychologists must be certified and/or licensed by the State of Florida. They also may be nationally certified by the National School Psychology Certification Board.
