• JROTC Events:

     

    AIR RIFLE

    The JROTC gives all Cadets who participate in air rifle marksmanship an opportunity to experience a National-level competition. In addition to providing Sumner High School JROTC with a national ranking, results from this competition will be used to select the JROTC unit teams and at-large individuals that will be invited to participate in the Regional JROTC Service Championships. Teams/individuals may then qualify to compete in the National JROTC Championship.

     

    DRONES

    New event – Cadets will learn about drones, flight principles, programming, documentation, and communication skills while expanding their understanding of and building interest in drone-related workforce and career opportunities.

     

    DRILL

    Fitness Challenge

    Fitness Championships have both a Male Division and Mixed Division. All divisions compete within five team events specifically designed to be an all-round physical test. Events change every year. After the team competition ends, the teams nominate their best male & female athletes to compete in the Ultimate Fitness Cadet Competition held on our Physical Team Test course.Teams from all divisions will participate to compete for this title. Active-duty Drill Sergeants from all services serve as judges. Teams compete in five disciplines of fitness. Team run, obstacle course, pull-ups, standing long jump and seated medicine ball throw.

    JROTC Le & Academic Bowl (JLAB)adership

    The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) is an all-service national competition that culminates in the Level III JLAB Championship at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC!

    To participate:
    1. Must have at least one leadership team or one academic team compete in JLAB level I.
    2. Level I is available online. Please take Level I early. There will be no extensions.
    3. Use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Do not use Internet Explorer or Safari.
    4. All team members must be present during class. The instructor is the proctor for the test.
    5. The test, which takes approximately one hour, must be completed in one sitting and taken as a team.

     

    Raider Challenge

    Raider Competitions are athletic competitions held at JROTC programs around the state. Events take place outdoors and usually consist of individual strength test (push-ups, tire-drag, obstacle course, etc), distance team running events, first aid events, and some form of rope bridge construction/crossing. Individual events may vary.

     

    JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) & STEM Camps

    JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenges are Brigade-level events for Army JROTC Cadets that take place across the world. JCLCs are typically held at Boy Scout camps or military installations. JCLCs are beginning to incorporate STEM activities as part of the camps.

     

    National Flight Academy (NFA)

    National Flight Academy (NFA) offers an exclusive learning experience designed to enhance STEM exploration for students in grades 7-12. Our goal is to inspire your child by showing them the amazing things they can achieve when they believe in themselves. It's important to emphasize the teamwork required to make this experience safe and fun for everyone.

     

    Boys State

    Boys State is a unique, one-week, summertime educational program for rising seniors that focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governmental bodies and elected public officials. It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of Florida's state government, while providing hands-on training in practical citizenship, leadership and character development through a

     

    Each Year Boys State awards over$ 10,000 in scholarships to deserving Boys State Delegates.

    Girls State

    The purpose of Girls State is to provide citizenship training for girls of high school age in every Department of the American Legion Auxiliary; to afford them an opportunity to live together as self-governing citizens; to inform them about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship, in order that they may understand and participate in the functioning of their government; and to help them grasp them meaning of some of the responsibilities which they must assume when they become adults.
