Robert M. Nelson III
Principal of Sumner High School & Academy 2027
Mr. Nelson is an award-winning educational leader who has been a public-school educator for 25 years in Tampa, Florida. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal, high school principal, and principal leadership coach in Hillsborough County Public Schools, the nation’s seventh largest public-school district. Robert has a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Mr. Nelson began his career as a physical education and administrative resource teacher at Pierce Middle School in 1995. He helped the school receive their first “B” school grade in history. In 2003, Mr. Nelson became an assistant principal at Plant High School. In 2007, Mr. Nelson was promoted to the principalship at Plant High School in which he was principal for 10 years. During his principalship, Plant High School was one of the highest rated high schools in Hillsborough County Public Schools, the state of Florida, a Washington Post Top 100 School and received a GOLD rating from U.S. News and World Report during multiple years.
He has been awarded many accolades during his time as a high school principal. Mr. Nelson has been rated as a highly-effective principal for multiple years and received Principal-of-the-Year nominations and awards from the Hillsborough Counselors Association, Hillsborough Association of School Administrators (Professional Involvement Award), the Art Council, the Council for Exceptional Children, Hillsborough County Public Schools Exceptional Education Department, Hillsborough County PTSA and chose as the Reading Leader of the Year by Hillsborough County Public Schools. In 2017, Mr. Nelson was President of the High School Principals Council and chosen as the first Lead Principal of High Schools to support other high school administrators in their roles as educational leaders. Additionally, Mr. Nelson has completed the inaugural School Superintendents National Association Principal Supervisor Program and received multiple Coach-of-the-Year awards from his days of coaching girls’ soccer at Plant High School.
From 2017 to 2020, Mr. Nelson was an area leadership coach and assisted the area superintendent with the support, collaboration, and growth of 32 K-12 schools.
Mr. Nelson has worked tirelessly during his career to advocate for students, collaborate with teachers, and grow educational leaders. He wants to positively impact as many children's lives as possible by empowering educators with the knowledge, strategies, and tools to effectively lead in their roles.
Robert has been married for 23 years and has four amazing children, He is a former club and high school soccer coach, a devoted dance-dad, blogger, author, and avid sports fan.
Assistant Principal of Curriculum
Ms. Wasylkiw graduated from E.J. King High School in Sasebo, Japan. She attended the University of South Florida earning her Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education, Master’s in social science education with a specialization in archaeology, and a Master’s of Educational Leadership. She began her career as a Social Studies educator at East Bay High School in 2005. She was a charter member of the teaching staff at Lennard High School and served as Student Government Sponsor. She previously held the titles of Department Chair and Assistant Principal at East Bay High School and Assistant Principal of Magnet Curriculum at Jefferson High School. She was proudly appointed to Assistant Principal of Curriculum at Sumner High School in 2021.
Ms. Wasylkiw enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling, and reading. Ms. Wasylkiw believes that student involvement, building relationships, and collaboration build a strong foundation to support student learning.

Mrs. McClain is a product of Hillsborough County Public Schools and earned her Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Tampa, Go Spartans!! She began her career as a Social Studies Teacher and held many other leadership positions at Sligh Middle Magnet School from 2013-2021. She was appointed Assistant Principal at Sumner High School in 2021. Mrs. McClain philosophy in Education is to be a Servant Leader. She believes servant leader focuses on the growth and well-being of employees and other stakeholders in their organization. Servant leaders seek to help the people they serve grow as individuals, in return this will allow our students to grow, learn, and flourish as they enter adulthood. She looks forward to serving, learning, supporting, and growing with our Sumner Community.

Assistant Principal of Student Affairs (B-FLE)
Hulya Tasci earned her master’s degree in English and French at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. She earned her second master’s degree in educational leadership at the University of South Florida. She studied French and Portuguese at the “Universites de Lettres” in Orleans, France. She taught English and French at the Goethe Gymnasium in Bochum, French at the Dionne Warwick Institute in East Orange (New Jersey) and French and German at the Mater Academy in Hialeah Gardens before joining Hillsborough County Schools. She was a teacher, a department head and an ART at Chamberlain High School before joining the administrative team at Lennard High School as an Assistant Principal. In 2019 she joined the Franklin Middle School team as an Assistant Principal for Curriculum.

Assistant Principal of Student Affairs (FLEM-MANF)
Mr. Peacock is a product of Hillsborough County Schools and a graduate of Chamberlain High School. He attended the University of South Florida and graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He began his teaching career at Plant High School where he taught Biology, Chemistry and AP Environmental Science. He later returned to USF and earned a Masters in Educational Leadership. In January 2007, Mr. Peacock was appointed Assistant Principal for Student Affairs at King High School and served there for 4 1/2 years. Mr. Peacock then served as an Assistant Principal at Newsome High School for 11 years before joining the administrative team at Sumner High School. He is married with two beautiful daughters and a son. In his spare time, Mr. Peacock enjoys going to church, spending time with his family, playing golf and following his favorite sports teams (Rays, Bucs, and Lightning).

Assistant Principal of Student Affairs (MANGANO-ROBE)
Napoleon Wade has been an educator for 24 years. After graduating from H. B. Plant High, he attended Tuskegee University finishing with a B. A. in English Education. After teaching Language Arts for ten years to students who tested gifted, he obtained his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from USF. This help afford him the opportunity to become a school administrator, more importantly an Assistant Principal at his high school alma mater. Mr. Wade’s strength is inspiring people. He comes to Sumner High with a wealth of experiences helping students reach their fullest potential. One of his favorite recent quotes from a former student is, “I see you working tirelessly around the school to make things better for everyone Mr. Wade, and it motivated me to be the best I could be. So I started my own business!” Javier Parra class of 2019 Plant High School.

Assistant Principal of Student Affairs (ROBI-Z)
Allison Wright earned her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in English Education. Ms. Wright is a product of Hillsborough County Schools and feels honored to be back home in Hillsborough County with the opportunity to be at Sumner. She was a graduate of Richard C. Spoto High School and later taught there as an English and Reading Teacher. She also taught at Riverview High School before becoming a Dean of Discipline/Students in Manatee County at Parrish Community High School, where she was able to help open the brand-new high school in 2019. She joined the Sumner Aministration for the 22-23 school year.
