Mr. Francisco Quixtan
Francisco Quixtan - Director of Orchestras, Sumner High School
Francisco Quixtan is a distinguished music educator and conductor, currently serving as the Director of Orchestras at Sumner High School. A passionate musician and mentor, Mr. Quixtan has built Sumner’s orchestra into a program that includes a beginning orchestra, a chamber ensemble, and a full symphony orchestra. Under his leadership, the orchestra has achieved a standout performance in the 2023-2024 school year, earning a superior rating at the district level.
In addition to his work at Sumner, Mr. Quixtan is an active performer and educator in the Tampa area. He plays a role in several local music organizations, including the Florida Wind Band and the Hillsborough County Secondary Music Council. He also serves as the assistant artistic director for the Tampa Bay Symphonic Winds and as the jazz director for the Tampa Bay Pride Jazz Band. With expertise spanning multiple instruments, Mr. Quixtan is committed to broadening his students' exposure to diverse musical genres, helping them explore everything from classical to mariachi and beyond.
