The Institute of Business and Technology provides students a wide variety of programs in the fields of Technology, Marketing, and Business.

NAF Academy of Information Technology (AOIT)
All NAF academies support open choice enrollment. Students choose one of three tracks: IT, 3D Animation, or TV Production. The AOIT partners with industry leaders to provide state-of-the-art equipment and instruction leading to a high-tech career and/or college. Students can graduate with industry certifications and have job experience in their chosen field. Students are able to meet Florida industry leaders through job shadow field trips. In 2020 and 2021, the academy was awarded the status of "Model" Academy.
Program courses include:
- Information Technology Track - Digital Information Technology, 1st Year Experience (HCC Dual Enrollment), AP Computer Science Principles, Summer Internship, Cybersecurity, Web Development, Programming Essentials, Cloud Virtualization (2 block periods, Erwin Technical College Dual Enrollment); All of the above dual enrollment courses are offered on the BHS campus during the normal school schedule.
- 3D Animation Track - 3D Animation 1-4
- TV Production Track - TV Production 1-4 (levels 3 & 4 are Honors).
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is the co-curricular student organization for Business and Technology students.
CERTIFICATIONS - Students can graduate with industry certification in Adobe, CompTIA IT, and CIW Social Media, Entrepreneurship & Small Business, Design for Delight, Project Management Ready, CompTIA Security+, and have job experience in their chosen field.

NAF Academy of Information Technology Course Descriptions
SLS 1106 – First Year Experience Orientation Grade 9-12 3 College Credits (1/2 HS Elective Credit)
NOTE: Prerequisite requirements: 3.0+ unweighted GPA
This course emphasizes early academic planning that aligns students' aptitudes, career interests, and life goals. In addition to the early development of a comprehensive academic/life plan, first-time-in-college students will learn about HCC's support services and how to navigate toward successful completion of courses and programs. Moreover, students will engage with the College community in meaningful ways that help prepare them to realize their academic and career goals. Pedagogical approaches include lecture, faculty-advisor partnership, peer group collaboration, library research, self-exploration, written reflection, oral presentation, experiential learning, and other modalities.
PROGRAMMING ESSENTIALS HONORS Grade 10-12 1 credit
Recommended prerequisite: Digital Information Technology
Students learn the principles of programming using the Python language. The course covers testing, analyzing, and debugging programs with students writing and coding programs. Students can more easily later make the transition to other languages to achieve future educational or career objectives. Students will be introduced to Database programs, and industry certification will be offered for Microsoft Access.

BRANDON'S AOIT MISSION
The mission of the Academy of Information Technology at Brandon High School is to provide each student a diverse education through the study of computer-based information systems, programming, support, networking, and database management. Upon completion of the program, the graduate will be prepared for postsecondary education and the global workforce as a responsible citizen.
AOIT CURRICULUM
Academy students will have completed four courses and a paid internship by graduation that enhance college and career readiness. Information technology curriculum covers computer networking, systems, database design, digital video production, graphic design, web design, and programming.
WHY IS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IMPORTANT?
Opportunities in computer and information technology are projected to grow 13 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. As the industry evolves, there will be a greater focus on filling positions in cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security.
