Extended Learning Program Tutorial and Grade Enhancement Program
What is ELP?
The Extended Learning Program (ELP) provides academic support for students after school.
When is ELP?
After school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6 pm.
Is transportation provided?
Transportation is provided for students who already ride the bus.
How is the ELP Grade Enhancement Program structured?
The grade enhancement program allows students to earn a quality point, replacing a failing quarter grade for language arts, math, science, or social studies. Students may be scheduled for up to two enhancement courses at once. Once students complete a course, they may be scheduled for additional classes as time permits.
How does grade enhancement work?
Students who complete a language art, mathematics, science, or social studies grade enhancement course will earn a ‘P’ grade, equivalent to a ‘D’ or one quality point for the corresponding quarter. This grade counts toward the semester average. However, the original "F" quarter grade will remain on the student’s grade record. ELP grade enhancement is not available for high school credit courses.
How will I know if my child is eligible to attend?
Students eligible for ELP Grade Enhancement will receive written notification from their guidance counselor in the event that they fail a core course.
Are students required to attend?
The promotion policy requires students to pass three middle school or higher-level courses in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies before ninth grade and to meet FHSAA requirements for participation in high school athletic programs. Middle school students must meet this requirement annually to be promoted to the next grade.
How do students log in from home?
Students may log in from home only to work on classwork. All quizzes and tests must be taken at school. Working from home does not cancel the required in-person attendance at ELP.
