About the Vet. Assisting Program
The program trains students to assist veterinarians and other animal care professionals. Students will gain experience in animal care and husbandry, grooming, proper restraint methods, laboratory skills, parasitology, and animal preventive health care.
The program utilizes computer modules from Animal Care Technologies (ACT) program, lecture, and classroom and lab activities to train students. In addition to the 750 classroom hours, students are required by the Florida Veterinary Medical Association to complete a required skills list and an additional 250 experiential hours in a veterinary hospital.
