School History
-
Dover Elementary is nestled amongst the orange groves and strawberry fields of Dover, Florida in Hillsborough County. While the current location of Dover Elementary opened in 1950, it's origin dates back to a one room school house in the early 1870's. Our school holds a proud, hardworking, multicultural and gifted student population that fluctuates between 500 students in August to 800 during the peak of the citrus and strawberry seasons.
Cultural, intellectual and socio-economic diversity provide students a remarkable learning opportunity, where creative teaching techniques are employed in a caring atmosphere to inspire and equip enthusiastic life long learners. Outstanding and dedicated teachers make up Dover's faculty and staff, providing accommodations and setting high expectations for all types of learners. Promoting risk-taking, building self-worth and nourishing confidence are aspects that are built into every learning experience. Each student is given opportunities to learn with various forms of technology and the latest learning strategies, as well as weekly exposure to art, music and physical education programs.
