    Summer Reading Project 2024-2025

    Summer Reading for Students Going into the 7th and 8th Grade
    Step 1 - Read Two Books.  ONE from the Sunshine State Young Readers Award Poster & ONE School Wide Read titled Kingston and the Magician's Lost and Found.  
    Step 2- Complete one of the Summer Reading Projects listed on the webpage for each book 
    Step 3 -Turn in both projects to the Media Center Specialist by October 30th.  The Media Specialist will award points to your house. 
    **You can read additional SSYR books and do extra projects to earn points for your house too! **
     
    Summer Reading for Students Going into the 6th Grade
    Step 1 - Read TWO Books from the Sunshine State Young Readers Award Poster.
    Step 2- Complete one of the Summer Reading Projects listed on the webpage for each book 
    Step 3 -Turn in both projects to the Media Center Specialist by October 30th.  The Media Specialist will award points to your house. 
    **You can read additional books and do extra projects to earn points for your house too! 
     
     
    How to find the SSYR books?
    • The SSYRA books can be purchased from local bookstores, checked out through Axis 360 (hcps), checked out at your local public library, or with the HAAL Pass.
    • Barnes & Noble stores throughout Florida support the SSYRA books and usually have the books available in the store for purchase or to special order.
    • Some books are also available as an ebook or audiobook.'
      • Please note: The public library books and ebooks will be in high demand. It is suggested you place a hold on it as soon as possible. You can place holds are your public library- hcplc.org

    *For future 7th and 8th Graders, Mr. Melendez will coordinate handing out the school-wide summer book before summer break.
