ABOUT TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN:
Take Stock in Children (TSIC) breaks the cycle of poverty by identifying high-achieving, low-income public-school students with college potential and offering holistic support. Once students have met the program requirements and graduate from high school, they will be awarded a minimum of a 2-year Florida Prepaid Scholarship.
STUDENT ELIGIBILITY:
- Must be in 6th-9th grade
- Must be enrolled in a Hillsborough County Public School
- Must financially qualify. Family income eligibility guidelines are here.
- Must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5, exhibit good behavior, and attend school regularly.
APPLICATION TIMELINE:
- Application opens: March 1, 2025
- Application deadline: May 30, 2025
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Complete an online application with essay questions.
- Submit tax return 1040* Form and Social Security card.
- Families must submit a copy of the 2024 tax return Form 1040 with their application.
- If not filed yet, a 2023 tax return may be submitted initially, but the 2024 tax return Form 1040 will be required for admission.
- The student applicant must be listed as a dependent on the tax return.
- Participate in an interview if selected to move forward.
