This is Mr. Phillips, principal of Lutz K-8 School.

We hope all our families had a relaxing and restful spring break.  We were excited to have our Leopards back on campus today!

The choice window for the 2023-2024 school year opened Wednesday March 8th and closes Sunday April 30th.  Fifth grade families must apply for choice in order to attend Lutz K-8 for middle school.  Fifth grade students already on choice do not need to apply.  Parents should go to hillsboroughschools.org/choice.  Once there, click apply.  When completing your application be sure to only list Lutz as a school on the application.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the front office.

Thank you to our students and Mrs. Williams for a great spring concert.  We also hope all students enjoyed OLDEN Day as we left for spring break.

Tomorrow is Down Syndrome Awareness Day.  Students and staff are invited to wear crazy socks in support of the day.

Our 7th and 8th grade students will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts as a fundraiser to support their end of the year activities.  They will be sold each Monday and Friday and they are $10 per dozen.  These items can be purchased during morning drop-off.

Be on the lookout for forms to go home with students regarding our first annual school wide talent show.  Forms should go home mid-week this week.

Hillsborough County Public Schools has opened the spring family survey for our school district.  We’re partnering with TNTP to administer the survey.  We are using TNTP’s family survey to hear from parents about their experiences with our school, including their perception of our school environment, parent communication and engagement, teacher expectations, and rigor in the classroom.  The survey link is below.  We appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey.

A reminder that school starts at 7:40 A.M.  We want to be sure all students arrive to school on time and are in class at 7:40 A.M. ready to learn.  Drop off begins at 7:10 A.M.  Last Thursday we had over 40 tardy students.  Please help us in minimizing tardies each day.

This is a reminder to parents for drop-off that the front parking lot is utilized for parent escort to the front of the school.  This is not a drop-off area.  If utilizing the front parking lot to bring students to school, please do not allow them to exit the vehicle and a parent should escort them to the front of the school across the crosswalk.  This ensure safety of all students as buses and vehicles are moving about the campus.  Your attention to this matter is much appreciated to support all our Lutz leopards!

This Friday is college day students and staff are invited to wear college gear.

It would be best for middle school parents to arrive after 2:15 P.M. as this would help to expedite our dismissal.  If you are a middle school parent who arrives prior to 2:15 P.M., please follow the elementary pick-up point line and pull into the grass and staff will inform you when it is time to move to the middle school pick-up point location.  Please refrain from parking in the front staff parking lot as this slows down the traffic flow during dismissal and helps to ensure safety for all stakeholders and ensures the car line continues to move smoothly. In addition, parents waiting on U.S. 41 please be mindful of the bike lane.  We are asking all parents to adhere to right turns only when exiting onto U.S. Highway 41.  This helps to assist with traffic back-up into the school and will help to ensure a quicker dismissal process.

Once again this is Mr. Phillips the principal at Lutz K-8 school and each day is a new day of learning for leopards!
