We hope all families are well and were glad to welcome our leopards back to campus today.

Our annual principal fundraiser is underway.  Students were sent home with letters and information regarding our fundraiser for this year.  Our goal is to raise $12,000 to support technology and other needs here at school to support student learning.  Students who donate at least $10 will participate in a popsicle party.  Students who donate at least $50 will have the opportunity to silly string our administrative team.  The top three donors will become administrators for the day!  Thank you in advance for your support of Lutz K-8 School!

Junior Civitan will be sponsoring a disaster relief drive this week for our neighbors down in south Florida due to Hurricane Ian.  Flyers will be sent home this week and items will be sent down to Fort Myers next week.  Many items are needed and can be collected such as food, water, hygiene items, bedding, towels, blankets, baby items, etc.  Thank you to our Lutz leopard families as we come together to support those in need.

This is a reminder to parents for drop-off that the front parking lot is utilized for parent escort to the front of the school.  This is not a drop-off area.  If utilizing the front parking lot to bring students to school, please do not allow them to exit the vehicle and a parent should escort them to the front of the school across the crosswalk.  This ensure safety of all students as buses and vehicles are moving about the campus.  Your attention to this matter is much appreciated to support all our Lutz leopards!

This Friday is college day.  Students and staff are invited to wear college gear to school!

Good luck to our boys’ and girls’ basketball team as they compete against Liberty Middle School Thursday night at 6:00 P.M.!  Come on our and support our Lutz leopards!

This Thursday is elementary conference night from 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.

Next Monday 10/10/22 we will have our virtual ELL meeting at 10:00 A.M. for our ELL families.

Lutz K-8 PTSA will be hosting its annual golf tournament on Saturday October 22nd.  They are looking for players and sponsors to join us at this great event to support Lutz K-8 School.

The Salvation Army Tree is this week October 3rd through October 7th from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.  at 1100 W. Sligh Ave.  A parent or guardian will need to bring their picture ID along with the birth certificate for each child up to 14 years old who lives with them.

The volunteer 101 session for parents has been rescheduled for 10/20/22 at 8:00 A.M. This meeting is for parents as we review volunteer protocols and expectations while on campus.  Parents are invited to attend as we review expectations of volunteers if they are on campus throughout the year.

The fall book fair is being rescheduled.  We are hoping to have it arrive sometime this week and begin near the end of the week.  Look for updated information to go home regarding our fall bookfair.

We want to remind parents that drop off begins at 7:10 A.M.  As you drop off students in the morning, please be sure to pull all the way up to help expedite our traffic process. Drop-off in the morning takes place at elementary pick-up point for all students. Once our buses have cleared, we open the front drop-off area for vehicles.  Vehicles entering the school from the southbound left turn lane should refrain from blocking northbound traffic on U.S. 41.

Please be reminded dismissal is at 2:10 P.M. and 1:10 P.M. on Mondays.  It would be best for middle school parents to arrive after 2:15 P.M. as this would help to expedite our dismissal.  If you are a middle school parent who arrives prior to 2:15 P.M., please follow the elementary pick-up point line and pull into the grass and staff will inform you when it is time to move to the middle school pick-up point location.  Please refrain from parking in the front staff parking lot as this slows down the traffic flow during dismissal and helps to ensure safety for all stakeholders and ensures the car line continues to move smoothly. In addition, parents waiting on U.S. 41 please be mindful of the bike lane.  We are asking all parents to adhere to right turns only when exiting onto U.S. Highway 41.  This helps to assist with traffic back-up into the school and will help to ensure a quicker dismissal process.

Do not forget to join our PTSA for the 2022-2023 school year. Parents can go to www.lutzk8pta.com to sign-up.  On the website you can access information on ordering spirit gear for this school year.

Once again this is Mr. Phillips the principal at Lutz K-8 school and each day is a new day of learning for leopards!
