Kelly McCluney, Principal

Kelly McCluney began her educational career in Hillsborough County Public Schools in 2001 as a teacher at Lockhart Elementary School. Ms. McCluney spent nine years teaching first, second and third grade at high-needs Title 1 schools before accepting her first assistant principal position at Twin Lakes Elementary. Ms. McCluney has served as an assistant principal at Potter Elementary, Cork Elementary and James Elementary. She is currently the proud principal at Palm River Elementary.

Her educational philosophy is based on her uncompromising belief in her purpose to shape the future of students from diverse racial and economic backgrounds. She aspires to create a school culture and instructional programming conducive to student learning and development while fostering positive relationships with students and all stakeholders.

Ms. McCluney received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2000. She earned her master's degree in Elementary Education in 2001. In 2010, she earned her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. In July of 2020, she will graduate from the University of South Florida with a second Educational Specialist degree concentrating in Turnaround Leadership.

She is the mother of two amazing children, Bryant, and Cameron. She is member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is passionate about watching college football. She is a die-hard FAMU Rattler and Florida Gator fan!
