A Culture of Student Success

  • Jennings Middle in Seffner proudly provides a nurturing and student-centered environment to develop a love of learning and ensure students’ success in school and in life. Our Scholar Quest options include high school credit courses to challenge students in Math and Science Honors along with Spanish II. Through Electives, our students sample a range of exciting courses—engaging in Art; Band; Spanish I and II, AVID college readiness and Business Technology—then pursue the options that best spark their interests. We help our students feel at home in their new learning environment, beginning with our Summer Jaguar Transition Camp and Sixth Grade Structure. Classmates connect through our many sports teams and clubs, while our dedicated staff creates a family-oriented sense of community and culture for student success.

School History

  • Jennings Middle School was named after Mr. Jinks Jennings. He was born in Brooksville, Florida and moved to Thonotosassa in the early 1920's. Mr. Jennings made an agreement with the school district, that if they were to put a school on his parcel of land, they could use the land free of charge. The original school started in a church. Mr. Jennings was a strong advocate of education and an civic activist for the residents in Thonotosassa and Seffner, Florida. He died in the 1950's. The school was downgraded to an elementary school and the doors eventually closed in 1965. In 2003 the school re-opened off Williams Road in Seffner, Florida, where now the school resides on Governor's Run Drive.
