Doris Ross Reddick Elementary opened its doors to students on August 18, 2008. The school was named after Doris Ross Reddick, a beloved educator and a member of the Hillsborough County School Board from 1992 to 2004. Mrs. Reddick was the first Black woman elected to the Hillsborough County School Board and served three consecutive terms for a total of 12 years.
Reddick Elementary is a Pre-K through 5th grade school, located on West Lake Drive in the small, agricultural town of Wimauma, Florida and is one of ninety Title I elementary schools in Hillsborough County.
Title I of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 provides funding to school districts and schools to support a variety of services. These services include parent involvement opportunities, additional classroom resources and personnel, highly-qualified teachers and paraprofessionals, and professional development.
