Every Girl, Every Day, College Bound

  • At the Girls Preparatory Academy, our motto —Every Girl, Every Day, College Bound—embodies our culture of high expectations. We are dedicated to developing confident, dynamic, educated young women from across Hillsborough County in a single-gender environment. Our technology-rich, interactive learning campus—including our 1:1 iPad program—infuses 21st century technology skills into every student’s learning. Rigorous Scholar Prep high school credit courses challenge our students in a variety of subjects. Through Electives, our students sample a range of exciting courses, engaging in Band, Art, Introduction to Law and Computer & Business Technology. Our optional After-School Enrichment Academy adds experiences in robotics, dance, golf and beyond. Our Sixth Grade Structure groups teachers and students in a tight-knit "team,” helping students feel at home and connected to our school. We invite you to join our college-going culture, where—guided by our School Creed—We are resilient. We are one. We are the Girls Preparatory Academy.

School History

  • Girls Preparatory Academy at Ferrell Middle Magnet School first opened as Middleton High School in 1971.  In 1993, it was converted to Middleton Middle Magnet School of Technology and was one of the two original magnet programs offered by Hillsborough County Public Schools at the time.

In 2005, the district renamed the school to Ferrell Middle Magnet School and updated the theme to the Center for Language Explorations and Global Communications. The following year, the Advanced Course Scholars theme was added as a second theme.

Girls Preparatory Academy at Ferrell Middle Magnet School opened its doors for the 2011-2012 school year after the school district decided to create two single-gender programs at the middle school level to address the graduation rates of the district's underserved populations. Since then, Girls Preparatory Academy has been successfully developing confident, dynamic, educated young women through accelerated curricula and a campus environment like no other.  That is why we say that Girls Preparatory Academy is Tampa Bay's best kept secret!

School Creed

  • At Girls Preparatory Academy, all students follow the school creed which establishes the expectations set-forth and to help guide students to become the best versions of themselves.  We say the creed every morning along with the Pledge of Allegiance as a reminder of the committment and dedication that each one of us has.

We are strong, confident young women.

We believe that we can achieve anything because we are dedicated, committed, and focused.

We are exceptional-not because we say it, but because we live it.

We each have a voice that empowers and we choose to use it to uplift ourselves and others.

We believe in nurturing our minds, bodies, and school spirit.

We will not fail in the face of adversity.

    We are resilient.

    We are one.

We are the Girls Preparatory Academy.
