Thomas A. Edison Grammar School opened in the fall of 1925. The school was named for Thomas Alva Edison, a famous American inventor, who had a home and laboratory in Fort Myers, Florida. He was said to have spent a great deal of time in the Tampa Bay area. Mr. Edison patented many inventions, most notably, the incandescent electric light bulb.
The school was renovated in 1984, when it was completely refurbished.
The mascot is the eagle and the colors are red and white.
