Mr. Boatman

Hello. My name is Allen Boatman and I have been teaching Exceptional Student Education (ESE) for the past 10 years, and teaching for the District since 1998.

I have a bachelor's degree in Horticulture, the science of growing plants.  I have taught at the adult, middle and high school levels. I taught adult nursery operations and greenhouse operations at Hillsborough County Jails for 14 years. I taught Agriscience at C. Leon King High School for a year, and I have been teaching ESE Agriculture for the past 10 years here at LaVoy Exceptional Center.

In my career with HCPS, I have been in all the local papers, TV news broadcasts, on the AP wire around the world, on CNN, and Fox Business News.

I served in the United States Military in both the Navy and the Army, as both an enlisted man and an officer.  Of all the many jobs and places that I have worked in my lifetime, I get the most satisfaction and feel the most fulfilled teaching special needs students here at LaVoy Exceptional Center.

I have been married to my wife Sandra for 30 years.  We have a 20-year-old daughter & 17-year-old son, both of whom we are exceedingly proud of!  I invest a great deal of time serving in my local church with both youth & adults. I also like to fish, go to the beach, swim, bike, pretty much anything adventurous or artistic.  I have a great appreciation for sunrises and sunsets. I also have an interest in space and natural sciences. I grew up on the Space Coast and spent a lot of time immersed in nature.

If you have entrusted me with your child, understand that I take this responsibility seriously, and will do my utmost to see that your child is as prepared for life as possible.
