What is the Mintz House System?

The Mintz House System is a positive behavior program that supports the three behavioral expectations we have of all students.

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe

Students earn points for positive behaviors aligned with the expectations that cover all areas of the school building. Points are tracked using a program called Live School. Students may bank and save their points to trade in for various rewards created by the school, their grade and / or their teachers.

All students are assigned to one of four houses – think Harry Potter. As a house member, the points students earn goes towards their house total. We keep track of the total and then, during the last week of school, we will celebrate the house that earned the greatest number of points with the House Cup.

The Four Houses of Mintz

House Creditis is symbolized by an owl which represents wisdom and vigilance as well as the color green which represents nature, good health and renewal. Creditis is a Latin word meaning Belief.

House Fidelis is symbolized by a wolf which represents teamwork and loyalty as well as the color black which represents restraint and protection. Fidelis is a Latin word meaning Trustworthy.

House Molles is symbolized by a Phoenix meaning hope and transformation as well as the color red which symbolizes courage and action. Molles is a Latin word meaning Resiliency.

House Officium is symbolized with an elephant representing loyalty and strength and the color blue which represents stability and inspiration. Officium is a Latin word meaning Responsible.

The character traits defined through the house meanings make up our character traits of the month which are then the focus of breakfast club meetings with our student services team.

Students are randomly assigned to houses and are a member of that house throughout their time at Mintz Elementary.
