- Lennard High
Principal's weekly message.
We have so much to celebrate her at here at Lennard! Four of our amazing Longhorns received national recognition for their outstanding academic achievements in school and their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and/or AP Exams. They have accomplished these milestones during the pandemic occurring during their high school years. We could not be prouder of Amanda Chung, Lauren Ray, Mckinley Baker, and Varun Patel! Congratulations, Longhorns!
Congratulations to Ms. Burgess and our DECA club! Team 1 Start-Up Business students, Kaitlyn Jorden & Aaron (Keith) McClain won 2nd place! Team 2: Integrated Marketing Campaign – Event students Kylie Anderson, Hope Tepfer, and Claudia Hernandez won 3rd place! Ms. Burgess and these very talented students will travel to the DECA State Competition in Orlando in March. I know they will represent Lennard High School very well.
Congratulations to our Student Government Association! Our SGA led our school to winning 2nd place in the Battle of the Belts-Best Poster category! We are so proud of our students and their work in reminding all our Longhorns to buckle up and drive safely at all times.
Congratulations to Coach Tunstall and our cheer team for placing second in the Regional Cheer Competition yesterday! This 2nd place puts our Lady Longhorns automatically in the state finals. We are so proud of these student-athletes and look forward to seeing them in Gainesville for state competition. Keep up the great work, girls!
I would also like to congratulate our new art teacher, Mr. Frank Bonanno. Mr. Bonanno’s artwork is part of an art show to be held at the Five Deuces Galleria in St. Petersburg. The opening for the show was yesterday, and his work will remain on display in this gallery for one month. We are so proud of him and very excited for the work he will do with our students! Congratulations, Mr. Bonanno!
Juniors and seniors are invited to attend an ACT Prep Class every Thursday, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in Room 412. This will be especially helpful for any junior and senior who has not met the
Reading benchmark and needs the ACT concordant score to graduate with their cohort.
The ASVAB test will be offered on Wednesday, January 19th, at 8:30 am, in the school auditorium. The test is open to all juniors who are not scheduled for a test that day and any seniors who would like the opportunity to take the test. We have planned for 100 students, and it is first come first serve basis. Please see Major Fannell or MSG Bailes with any questions.
Seniors-Balfour will be on campus Tuesday, January 25, to take orders for your graduation cap and gowns during lunch. If you have not already ordered your cap and gown online, plan to stop by the Balfour table during your lunch on the 25th.
Please remember that all HCPS will be closed tomorrow in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Students will return to campus on Tuesday with a regular bell schedule.
I hope you have a great week! Stay well.
