Principal's Weekly Message

The Florida Seal of Fine Arts designates graduating seniors who have dedicated a significant portion of their high school journey to the study and pursuit of excellence in their fine arts field. We are proud to celebrate Daycianno Woodside, Rebecca DuBay, Kayla Smith who demonstrate high levels of commitment and proficiency in the fine arts (as defined in Florida Statute 1003.4995 including dance, music, theatre, and visual arts) through personal expression and creative experiences in fine arts education programs. This is very well-deserved recognition, and we could not be prouder of these three students and their teachers Coral Navarre, Hannah Goldman, and Kyle Tears.

Congratulations to Alexander Shelton and Kyle Casey. These students will be recognized at the School Board meeting on May 13, for placing first in the HCPS Game Jam. This is an outstanding accomplishment, and we could not be prouder of these students. Thank you to Mr. Mikkelson who prepares our students for these competitions and opportunities for them to succeed.

Congratulations to Brooke Malecki! Two of Brooke’s artwork submissions have been selected for exhibition at the 51st Annual HCC Student Juried Art Exhibition hosted by Gallery114@HCC Ybor City Campus. From all five HCC campuses, 174 artworks were submitted, and 50 were selected to be in the art exhibition. Brooke had 2 of the 50 artworks selected. We are so proud of Brooke, her exceptional talent, and this very prestigious opportunity!

Congratulations to all our senior flag football players who were celebrated on their Senior Night at the Bucs Training facility. These senior student athletes have certainly left their mark on what being a senior leader on a team truly means. Senior leadership is critical for a team to be successful, and we all know how successful our flag football team has been. Congratulations to these stellar student athletes! You will be tremendously missed!

Seniors, Herff Jones will be distributing caps and gowns tomorrow, Monday, April 14, during all three lunches, in the gym lobby. If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown, please do so as soon as possible. Every graduate must have a cap and gown ordered from Herff Jones to walk during the graduation ceremony.

Please join us tomorrow evening on Monday, April 14, for our Quarter 4 Conference Night from 4:30-6:30. This is our last Conference Night of the year, so please use this opportunity to meet with your children’s teachers. Also, please join us for our virtual PTSA General meeting this Wednesday, April 16, at 6:00 PM. I have included the link to the meeting below in this email.

Also, please come out to support both our baseball team and flag football team this Tuesday, April 15, beginning at 7:00 as they compete in the district competition. Go Longhorns!

Finally, this Friday, April 18, is a Non-Student Day. We will see students back on campus Monday, April 21, for a regular bell schedule dismissal.
I hope you have a great week.

Go Longhorns!
