Colson Elementary School was built in 1992 and named after educational philanthropist Rodney Colson, an educator with Hillsborough County Public Schools who went on to become a Hillsborough County Commissioner.
Colson has educated three generations of students. Our school has been designated an A+ school 9 times since Florida's school grading system was introduced in 1998. Colson is a Five Star school and has achieved designation as a Blue Ribbon school.
There have been six principals at Colson Elementary School - Jack Davis, Mary Clark, Karen Lynch, Wendy Harrison, Orestes Mendez, and Rebecca Black.
