Dr. Richard Ford Pride
Dr. Richard F. Pride received more than two hundred awards, certificates, citations, plaques and trophies throughout his professional career. His life was truly dedicated and devoted to excellence in education. His career began in 1941 as a high school English and French teacher in South Carolina. A few years later, Dr. Pride came to Tampa. In 1947 he was a school social worker. Later he became a principal, an instructor at Florida A&M University and a supervisor for elementary schools in Hillsborough County. Eventually Dr. Pride became an Associate Professor for the college of Education as Director of Project Upward Bound at USF.
